Meet Our Counsellors

Kristina Sohal

I’m Kristina, a registered clinical counsellor in Vancouver who changes people’s lives with my compassionate and non-judgemental therapeutic approach.

My story of helping others began in the finance industry where I worked for several years. I became increasingly passionate about helping my financially stressed clients. Determined to help others with a wider set of issues, I decided to become a therapist in Vancouver, BC.

I earned my Masters of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. As a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors, I’m incredibly proud to help my clients live better lives by being the counsellor who takes time to listen.

Speaking of truly listening – this is what makes my therapeutic approach different from that of other professionals. My patience in thoroughly hearing each client in their own unique struggle gives me the feedback I need to provide each client with life changing tools.

Practicing with the highest ethical standards as a Vancouver clinical counsellor, I use various approaches to help clients in their healing journeys. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindful Exercises, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Exposure Therapy and Empty Chair Techniques.

If you’re ready to embark on your own self improvement journey, please contact my team by simply filling out this form.

I look forward to working with you.

Best,

Kristina Sohal

Cynthia Csepregi

My name is Cynthia and I’m thrilled to be joining Kristina at Metro Counselling. I am a registered Social Worker and a Clinical Counsellor. I have a strengths based focus, and believe in people’s ability to improve their lives.

I have a long history of working for non profit organizations and in Public Service, first in programs for adults with Developmental disabilities and upon graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work I embarked on a fourteen year career in a complex mental health setting. While I loved this work I ventured into further education getting my Master in Counselling degree. I got most of my satisfaction in my Social Work role providing supportive counselling to family members and patients. In private practice I look forward to devoting all of my time to counselling.

I earned my Master in Counselling degree from City University of Seattle, with an internship in a Crisis program for children and adolescents. My thesis topic was of the impact of suicide on families, parental suicide on children, and amongst diverse populations. I’m an empathetic person who has a wealth of experience in the mental health field. It was this experience that tells me individuals can be the architect of change in their lives. I derive a great deal of satisfaction in my ability to be part of that journey.

No two individuals are alike so I will tailor therapy to the needs and strengths of each of my clients. I employ Person Centered therapy, Solution focus therapy, and believe in the benefits of increased self awareness of Narrative therapy. Please contact Metro Counselling if you would like to work with me.

Best,

Cynthia Csepregi – BA in social work and masters in counselling psychology

Ian McGoldrick

My name is Ian McGoldrick and I am pleased to be working with my colleagues at Metro Counselling. Over the years, I have been a coach, mentor, teacher and school administrator.

Connected to all of these functions is my main role, that of counsellor. From the school environment, I entered into the wider community where I continue to work as a counsellor. I am grateful for the many opportunities I have had to work with individuals and families whose concerns and issues were unique and challenging. My task, today, is to be available to those seeking help in addressing and overcoming the obstacles that life can sometimes present.

I consider counselling to be a process of engagement. Clients share their own stories and together we discuss, reflect and look at ways of overcoming the adversity they face. It is a collaborative process. To that end, I engage the practices of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Brief Therapy to assist in finding solutions to a client’s particular issue. Fear, anxiety, stress, anger and depression are just some examples of the difficulties we can experience. My role is to help individuals successfully navigate their way through these constraints.

I am a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and hold teaching qualifications at Diploma and Bachelor level. Also, I have a Masters degree from Gonzaga University. I look forward to being of service to my future clients and hope to have the opportunity of sharing part of their journey through life. And, in a positive and constructive way, I wish to help them find inner peace and well-being.

Best,

Ian McGoldrick
