About Kristina Sohal
“My mission is to ensure that my clients are taken care of in a professional setting.”
For many years Kristina worked in the finance industry, helping others with their financial goals. After dealing with clients that were financially stressed, she realized she wanted to do more than help people with their finances.
She then started working for nonprofit organizations that support individuals with mental health issues. During that time she had the opportunity to work with psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals. She gained vast knowledge about mental health disorders, the mental health system, and the community resources available to those that are affected by mental illness. This experience led to her returning to graduate studies.
Kristina has her Masters of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. She is very grateful to have worked with a range of culturally diverse clients, and to have been part of their healing journey working through variety of issues and concerns. It has been an unique and unforgettable experience.
Kristina practices the highest ethical standards and protects the dignity and privacy of each client. The approaches that she uses are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindful Exercises, Solution-Focused Therapy and Person Centered Therapy. She also uses some Exposure therapy and Empty Chair Techniques. Kristina will recommend books, worksheets and other related material to support her clients.
